Biography
Maxim “shigetsu” Popadinec is a Ukrainian professional Dota 2 carry born on September 12, 2003. He currently plays position one for Yellow Submarine and is regarded as a mechanically talented product of the modern Eastern European development scene. His principal teams have included cybercats, PuckChamp, Natus Vincere, Runa Team and Yellow Submarine.
Early Career
Shigetsu began competing in 2020 with YNGBLD but first attracted wider attention during Dota 2 Champions League Season 4 in September 2021, playing for qwerty. His performances led to an opportunity with cybercats, where he qualified for the Eastern European DPC second division in 2022.
After joining PuckChamp in December 2022, shigetsu became part of the roster subsequently signed by Natus Vincere in February 2023. His NAVI lineup won DPC EEU 2023 Tour 3 Division II with a perfect 7–0 series record, although its earlier campaign in Division I had ended in seventh place. Following his NAVI period, he continued through DMS and several regional stacks before joining Runa Team in April 2025 and Yellow Submarine in 2026.
Playstyle and Reputation
Shigetsu is an aggressive farming carry whose best heroes combine solo-kill potential with strong late-game scaling. His most established selections include Ursa, Weaver, Slark, Faceless Void and Lifestealer, while his wider pool also features Luna, Gyrocopter, Terrorblade and Alchemist.
His statistics reinforce that profile: shigetsu averaged a tournament-leading 10.56 kills per game during the third tour of the 2021–22 EEU DPC second division. He is most effective when allowed to accumulate safe-lane resources before becoming an active damage dealer, rather than remaining entirely isolated until the late game.
Fun Facts
Team Spirit manager Korb3n revealed in 2022 that he would have considered shigetsu for the original Team Spirit project if Yatoro had not existed.
His broad list of public aliases has included nightcrawler, antwoord, 500daysofsummer and still watching the moon, although “shigetsu” remains his professional nickname.
