Batrider
There is no such thing as harmony among the creatures of the Yama Raskav Jungle. By bite, or claw, or pincer, or hoof, even the slightest sign of weakness means a swift death. They say the Rider was just a lad cutting chaff in his family's field when he was taken, swept up by a massive morde-bat looking for take-out. But this boy had a better idea, and wriggled his way from his captor's grip, onto the beast's back, and hacked it down with his tools. Emerging from the bloody wreckage and intoxicated by the thrill of flight, the boy realized he'd found his calling.

The boy grew, and every summer he'd return to his family's field, often setting out into the bush seeking to reclaim that first thrill of facing death in the form of jaws or a fatal fall. The years went on, but his fire only grew stronger. He studied the overgrowth, plunging deeper with each expedition, until finally he found his way to the caves at the heart of hostility. They say the Rider, on the eve of a scorching summer night, had nothing but a rope, a bottle of liquid courage and a burning determination to feel the skies once more, when he plunged inside...

When to Pick Batrider?
Pick Batrider as offlaner when your team needs a strong initiator who can drag enemies into bad positions and create chaos in fights. He is solid in 7.41a after the patch changes — he still excels at controlling one target with Lasso and dealing damage over time with Sticky Napalm and Flamebreak. Great against lineups with squishy backline heroes or carries that like to stand still.
He works well when your team has follow-up damage or AoE to punish grouped enemies after your initiation. Avoid him in heavy silence lineups or heroes with strong dispels and saves that can break your Lasso or remove your stacks easily. He also struggles against mobile heroes with escapes or kiting potential that make it hard to land good Lassos.
In this patch he still needs a Blink Dagger timing to be most effective, so don’t pick him if the enemy has a strong early push or if your team wants to play very passively without fighting.
Tips & common mistakes
- Stack sticky napalm early and often—it amplifies all your damage and slows enemies significantly in lane and fights.
- Use Flamebreak to knock enemies into your team or away from safety—don't just cast it for random damage.
- Don’t initiate with Lasso without Blink Dagger or a setup — wait for the right moment when multiple heroes are in range.
- Build Blink Dagger as your first major item in most games—it lets you jump in and land perfect Lassos.
- Position during Firefly to burn enemies while staying safe—fly over trees and cliffs to control the fight.
- Stop using Lasso on tanky frontline heroes first — save it for high-value targets like enemy carries or supports.
- Build utility items like Force Staff, Eul’s Scepter, or Black King Bar when the enemy has heavy lockdown or burst.
- Watch your mana — Batrider can run out quickly if you spam abilities without items like Soul Ring or Arcane Boots.
Summary
Batrider is a mobile initiator who drags enemies out of position and sets up kills with Lasso and Napalm stacks. Play aggressively in lane to build stacks, get your Blink timing, and create space for your team by forcing fights on your terms. He rewards good positioning and timing—if you land big lassos and burn the enemy with Firefly, you can snowball mid-game hard. Just don’t pick him and then jump in without backup or waste your ultimate on the wrong target.
