Nightfall

Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko was born on May 16, 2002, in Russia. He is a professional Dota 2 carry currently playing for Aurora Gaming. Throughout his career, he has also competed as an offlaner, making him one of the more positionally flexible core players of his generation.

Nightfall is known for efficient farming, strong mechanical execution, disciplined positioning, and consistently high net-worth accumulation. His ability to switch between carry and offlane has allowed him to perform in several different competitive systems.

Early Career

Nightfall entered professional Dota through the Virtus.pro system in 2019, initially playing under nicknames such as epileptick1d and Epileptic Kid. After an early trial with the main roster, he moved to VP.Prodigy, where he developed alongside several of Eastern Europe’s most promising young players.

VP.Prodigy’s strong online performances eventually led to the roster becoming Virtus.pro’s main lineup. Nightfall helped the team win EPIC League Season 2, ESL One Summer 2021, and both Eastern European DPC Upper Division seasons in 2021. Virtus.pro later finished 5th–6th at The International 2021.

Evil Geniuses

In November 2021, Nightfall joined Evil Geniuses and transitioned from carry to offlane. The role change required him to adapt his farming patterns and hero pool while playing alongside Arteezy, Abed, Cr1t-, and Fly.

Evil Geniuses won multiple North American DPC tours and finished first in the group stage of The International 2022. Their playoff run ended earlier than expected, but Nightfall’s offlane period demonstrated that he could remain effective outside his original carry role.

BetBoom Team and Tundra Esports

Nightfall joined BetBoom Team in December 2022, initially returning to the carry position before later playing offlane again. During his BetBoom tenure, the roster reached several Tier 1 Grand Finals, including DreamLeague Season 20, DreamLeague Season 22, and ESL One Birmingham 2024.

After leaving BetBoom, Nightfall spent the final months of 2024 with Tundra Esports. The team finished second at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade and BLAST Slam I before Nightfall moved to Aurora Gaming in February 2025.

Aurora Gaming

Nightfall became Aurora Gaming’s position-one player during the organization’s transition from its original Southeast Asian roster toward an international Eastern European lineup. He remained part of the team as Mikoto, Ws, Mira, and kaori completed the current roster.

Aurora became a consistent finalist during the 2026 season. The team won FISSURE Universe: Episode 8 and finished second at DreamLeague Season 28, PGL Wallachia Season 8, and DreamLeague Season 29. These results represented Aurora’s strongest competitive period since entering Dota 2.

Playstyle and Reputation

Nightfall is a resource-efficient carry who prioritizes farming routes, survival, and favorable late-game engagements. His strongest heroes include Morphling, Faceless Void, Ursa, Terrorblade, Luna, Lifestealer, and other scaling cores that reward precise positioning.

His offlane experience also influences his carry play. Nightfall is generally comfortable buying defensive items, joining structured team fights, and adapting his build to protect a lead rather than pursuing maximum damage in every game.

Fun Facts

Nightfall’s nickname originated from a Naruto soundtrack. In 2024, he briefly changed his competitive name to Saika, another reference connected to the Japanese language and Naruto music.

He is associated with the community’s “BKB-TP out” meme. If the fight doesn't go his way, he always triggers a BKB-TP out.

In the CIS community, he is sometimes called Idealich, referencing his reputation for maintaining very strong KDA statistics.
