About
Virtus.Pro is one of the most storied names in Dota 2 history—a legendary CIS organization that dominated the global scene in the late 2010s and is now pursuing a bold comeback with an ambitious international roster.
Early Formation & First Steps
Virtus.pro's Dota 2 roots stretch back to 2006, making them one of the few organizations that survived the original DotA era. The team was formally founded on April 17, 2012, and steadily built toward prominence through the early years of Dota 2. The 2012–2014 period was rocky, with frequent roster instability, but the foundation for something greater was quietly being laid.
Rise and Competitive Breakthrough
VP's golden era arrived in the second half of the 2010s and produced one of the most impressive runs in the game's history:
ESL One Hamburg 2017: Virtus.pro won the first Major of the 2017–2018 Dota Pro Circuit season, announcing themselves as a dominant global force.
2018 Major Dominance: VP won ESL One Katowice 2018, The Bucharest Major, and ESL One Birmingham 2018—becoming the first team ever to win two ESL One majors back-to-back.
All-Time Legacy: The VP's trophy cabinet includes 30 gold, 23 silver, and 27 bronze medals across their entire competitive history, with a record win streak of 26 consecutive matches.
This era cemented VP as one of the greatest Dota 2 dynasties of all time.
Playstyle and Reputation
In the fall of 2025, VP undertook a complete roster reboot—for the first time in the organization's history, assembling a majority of players from outside the CIS region. Veteran captain Tal "Fly" Aizik, the co-founder of OG, took the helm after stints at Evil Geniuses, Shopify Rebellion, and AVULUS. The team is coached by Kanishka "BuLba" Sosale, whose background includes years of coaching at Evil Geniuses and Shopify Rebellion. The new VP bets on experienced international talent and structured macro play, aiming to reclaim a seat at the top table.
Fun Facts
Virtus.Pro holds a record tied with Team Secret of five Dota Pro Circuit Major wins—a benchmark that remains out of reach for most top teams today.
Over 85 players have represented VP throughout the organization's history, including legends like Noone, Ramzes, and Solo.
The VP's best-ever ranking of 5th was achieved in November 2021, following an impressive run with the VP. Prodigy core that went 7–0 in two consecutive DPC regional seasons.
