When to Pick Ancient Apparition?

Pick Ancient Apparition as hard support when your team needs insane global presence, anti-heal, and the ability to punish anyone who dares to regen or heal in fights. He’s disgusting right now in 7.41a with the new Bone Chill innate stack slows and strength reduction every time you land magic damage, making carries feel like wet paper. Perfect against lineups full of sustain heroes (Omniknight, Abaddon, Necrophos, Huskar) or teams that love to fight around objectives.

Great with initiators who can set up your Ice Blast or Cold Feet. Avoid him if the enemy has heavy silence (Silencer, Skywrath, or Orchid buyers) or a burst that deletes you before you can contribute. He also struggles hard with mobile lineups that jump your backline instantly or if your team has zero setup for cold feet. In this patch he’s strong, but you still need good positioning — one bad Ice Blast and you’re just a squishy creep feeding gold.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Don’t waste Ice Blast early for a random poke—save it for when the enemy commits or groups up; otherwise, you look like an idiot with a 100-second cooldown.
  • Always drop Ice Vortex before fights for the slow and magic amp—it's free vision and damage; stop forgetting it like a pos 5 potato.
  • Level Cold Feet early in lane—the damage over time is actually decent now; use it to harass and set up kills.
