Gpk

Danil “Gpk~” Skutin was born on August 23, 2001, in Russia. He began competing professionally in 2017 and developed through teams such as Marlerino Esports, Vega Squadron, and Gambit Esports before becoming one of the defining midlaners of his generation.

Gpk is not simply a flashy pub player. His real strength has always been the combination of elite mechanics, laning pressure, farming speed, and an instinctive understanding of tempo. In my opinion, he may still be the most mechanically gifted midlaner in professional Dota when he is fully confident.

Early Career and Gambit Esports

Gpk gained wider recognition with Gambit Esports in 2019. His laning and aggressive hero pool quickly separated him from the other young mids in the region. He could dominate a lane, rotate for kills, and still finish the game with carry-level farm.

One of his early statistical highlights came at the MDL Chengdu Major, where he recorded 22 kills on Zeus against beastcoast. He also posted the highest average kills per game during the first Eastern European DPC tour of the 2021–2022 season.

Virtus.pro

In late 2020, Gpk joined the Virtus.pro system and became the centerpiece of its young roster. That team dominated Eastern European competition, won EPIC League Season 2, and finished 5th–6th at The International 2021.

Virtus.pro never converted its regional dominance into an Aegis, but Gpk’s reputation was already established. If you gave him a winning matchup and enough space, there were very few mids capable of surviving him.

BetBoom Team

Gpk joined BetBoom Team in December 2022. After a temporary inactive period in late 2024, he returned to the starting roster in January 2025 and again became the team’s central core.

With BetBoom, he won BLAST Slam I, FISSURE Universe: Episode 4, PGL Wallachia Season 5, and PGL Wallachia Season 8. The team also reached several Grand Finals, including DreamLeague Season 24, FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, and the Esports World Cup 2026.

His PGL Wallachia Season 8 performance was ridiculous. BetBoom swept Aurora 3-0, while Gpk played Pangolier twice and Puck once, dying only twice across the entire final. This was Gpk at his absolute best: winning lanes, taking over the map, and scaling like another position one.

The International 2026

At TI 2026, Gpk remained BetBoom’s most explosive player. BoomBoys entered the playoffs after an inconsistent group stage but defeated Aurora, Iron Wing, and Nigma to secure fourth place.bo3+1

The Iron Wing series perfectly demonstrated the difference between Gpk and a less greedy mid. While BZM built Blink Dagger and Black King Bar on Dragon Knight, Gpk packed a full carry inventory and became a raid boss. He understood what the patch demanded: if the game is going late, the midlaner must scale.

Spirit eventually shut BetBoom down 2-0, but the tournament reinforced the same conclusion I have had for years: when Gpk is comfortable, he is not merely a midlaner. He is BetBoom’s second carry.

Playstyle and Reputation

Gpk is an aggressive, mechanically demanding midlaner who excels on Storm Spirit, Ember Spirit, Puck, Queen of Pain, Invoker, Lina, Pangolier, and Templar Assassin. His public match history also shows strong results across traditional tempo heroes and greedier scaling mids.

His defining characteristic is resource conversion. Some mids take farm away from their carry and accomplish nothing. Gpk takes farm and becomes the strongest hero on the map. That difference is why BetBoom can play two-carry Dota without completely destroying its economy.

The remaining challenge is consistency under the heaviest pressure. When BetBoom becomes nervous, Gpk occasionally becomes quieter too. However, mechanically? There are very few players I would take over Daniok.

Fun Facts

The CIS community often calls him Daniok, a familiar variation of his real name, Danil.

Gpk reached 13,000 MMR in March 2024, 14,000 in June 2024, and 15,000 in January 2025. He also remained Save-’s longest-running teammate across multiple Virtus.pro and BetBoom iterations.
