1win Essence 2
Overview
1win Essence Season 2 brings ten teams together for a $200,000 prize pool, played online on the Europe East server from July 30 to August 5.
Organized by BASED Esports, Season 2 is a straight upgrade on the first: the prize pool has doubled from $100k, and it's now a full Tier 1 event instead of Tier 2. It's a leaner setup too — ten teams instead of fourteen, no directly invited squads, and a tight five-day run. The timing is the story: it wraps August 5, right before The International 2026 in Shanghai, so the field mixes TI-bound teams sharpening up with sides chasing one last result before the season's biggest stage.
I'll be covering every series with pre-match analysis, ELO-based predictions, and full aftermath breakdowns — no backdating, no excuses, just honest picks.
Format
Group Stage (July 30 – August 2): Ten teams split into two single round-robin groups of five. Every match is Bo2, so draws count — a 2–0 gives the winner 2 points, a 1–1 splits a point each way. Top two from each group go to the upper bracket, 3rd and 4th drop to the lower bracket, and the last-place team in each group is out. Tiebreaker rules apply if it's tight.
Playoffs (August 3 – August 5): Double-elimination, all Bo3 except the Grand Final, which is Bo5. Eight teams, three days — lose twice and you're gone.
