About

Nigma Galaxy is one of those teams that carries a lot of history with it. They were formed by players who came second at The International and decided they'd rather build something of their own than keep playing under someone else's name. That decision shaped everything that came after.

Early Formation & First Steps

After finishing second at TI9 with Team Liquid, KuroKy, Miracle, GH, and MinD_ContRoL walked away from the org. KuroKy was straightforward about why—the arrangement wasn't working financially for players at that level, and they wanted to run things themselves. MinD_ContRoL eventually left, w33 came in, and Team Nigma was born. In 2021 they merged with Galaxy Racer to form Nigma Galaxy, planting roots in the Middle East and expanding the organization beyond just Dota.

Rise and Competitive Breakthrough

The early signs were promising:

WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020: First title under their own banner. Proof that leaving Team Liquid wasn't a mistake.

WePlay! Tug of War: Mad Moon 2020: Another win not long after. For a brief moment it looked like these guys might actually chase down the TI trophy they'd missed.

The International 2025: After years of inconsistency and constant roster changes, the team made it to TI and reached the playoffs, finishing 5th-6th. Not the result that defines a legacy, but a sign that the core still had something left.

Playstyle and Reputation

The talent was never the issue. Miracle is one of the best carry players to ever touch the game, and GH in his prime was the kind of support that made everyone around him look better. The problem was putting it all together consistently. When KuroKy stepped away from playing in late 2024 and moved to the coaching seat, the team lost its anchor in-game, and the months that followed were messy—trial players, forfeited matches, visa issues, and carries coming and going. The org kept pushing, but it never quite found the stability it needed.

Fun Facts

iLTW came out in late 2025 and said he didn't agree with how Nigma approached Dota 2 during his time there but stayed quiet because he was nervous to say anything. Not exactly a glowing review.

At PGL Wallachia Season 2 in 2024, Nigma had to forfeit a match against Falcons because they couldn't field a proper roster. That's about as low as it gets for a team with this much history behind it.

KuroKy said in an interview he doesn't like being called an idol. He pointed to Dendi and others who came before him. For a guy with his resume, that kind of perspective is pretty rare.
