Early Life

Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk was born on March 12, 2003, in Ukraine. He discovered Dota 2 at a young age, initially playing casually with friends before developing a serious interest in competitive play.

Unlike many professional players, Yatoro did not have a traditional esports upbringing. He was largely self-taught, grinding ranked games and refining his mechanical skills until he became recognized in the high-MMR European scene. His professional career began in 2019, followed by a move to Yellow Submarine in 2020.

Career

Yatoro’s first competitive appearances came in smaller regional tournaments. His breakthrough arrived with Yellow Submarine, a roster of relatively unknown but highly talented players that quickly became one of the most promising teams in Eastern Europe.

The team’s performances attracted the attention of Team Spirit, which signed the Yellow Submarine roster in December 2020. Yatoro became the team’s position-one carry and quickly gained a reputation for his enormous hero pool, mechanical consistency, and willingness to play almost anything required by the draft.

Team Spirit

Team Spirit qualified for The International 2021 through the Eastern European regional qualifier and entered the tournament as an outsider. Yatoro played 14 different heroes during the main event, helping Spirit complete one of the greatest lower-bracket runs in Dota 2 history. They eventually defeated PSG.LGD 3-2 in the Grand Final to win their first Aegis.

After an inconsistent 2022 season, Spirit returned to dominance in 2023 by winning Riyadh Masters, DreamLeague Season 21, and The International 2023. Their 3-0 victory over Gaimin Gladiators made Yatoro a two-time TI champion and confirmed that the TI10 run was definitely not a fluke.

Yatoro temporarily changed his nickname to Raddan in 2024 and later took a competitive break after Team Spirit’s disappointing TI 2024 result. He returned to the active roster in January 2025. Spirit subsequently won DreamLeague Season 25 and the Esports World Cup 2025, although their TI 2025 campaign ended in 9th-13th place.

The International 2026

The International 2026 completed Yatoro’s transformation from a generational talent into a historical anomaly. Spirit entered TI as a contender rather than the clear favorite, lost twice to TEAM VISION during the tournament, and still fought through the lower bracket to reach the Grand Final.

Yatoro delivered another ridiculous performance in the title series. His Shadow Fiend finished Game 1 with a Rampage and a 16-1-7 score, while his Terrorblade helped put Spirit on championship point in Game 3. In the deciding fifth game, his Lifestealer survived the final chaotic engagement before Spirit closed the series 3-2.

The victory made Yatoro and Collapse the first players in Dota 2 history to win The International three times. Spirit also became the first organization to lift three Aegises. At this point, calling him one of the greatest carries in history feels too cautious. Yatoro is the GOAT.

Playstyle

Yatoro is renowned for his hero pool, mechanical skill, farming efficiency, and adaptability. Unlike carry players who depend on a handful of comfort heroes, he can switch between illusion carries, traditional late-game heroes, active fighting cores, and unconventional strategies without losing impact.

His greatest strength may be his ability to remain useful regardless of how a game begins. He understands farming patterns better than almost anyone, but he is not simply a PvE carry. When necessary, he joins early fights, changes his item build, or sacrifices short-term efficiency to protect the team’s overall game.

Most importantly, Yatoro performs his best Dota when the pressure is at its highest. Three different TI victories are no longer a coincidence or a hot streak. That is who he is.

Interesting Facts About Yatoro

Yatoro changed his nickname to Raddan in 2024. He explained that the name referenced both “Rain All Day, Dota All Night” and Radahn from Elden Ring. The change received mixed reactions from the CIS community, and he eventually returned to Yatoro. Honestly, the original name just has a different aura.

He also holds the record for the most Rampages on The International main stage.
