Team Resilience

Team Resilience is two months old and already qualified for The International 2026 as the first seed out of China. They beat everyone in the qualifier—including Vici Gaming, who had been the regional favorite. The team is built from five Chinese veterans who spent years grinding through disbanded orgs and failed qualifiers, found each other at exactly the right moment, and turned a two-month-old project into a TI team.

Early Formation & First Steps

Team Resilience was formed on April 5, 2026—less than three months before TI 2026 starts in Shanghai. The roster came together from the wreckage of multiple disbanded Chinese stacks. Erika and ZZQ had played together at Team Zero at TI 2024. Echo and Planet had been teammates at Tidebound. Niu had been at LGD and Tidebound. The connections were already there — it just took the right moment to put them all in the same room.

Coach Super — a former professional player with multiple top-4 TI finishes on his own resume — was the fifth piece. His presence wasn't cosmetic. When a team forms two months before the TI qualifier, the coach who has been to The International multiple times as a player is not a minor detail.

Rise and Competitive Breakthrough

The results came immediately:

ESL Challenger China Season 3 x ACL 2026 (May 2026): First tournament as a team. First place. The roster that had barely practiced together beat the Chinese field and earned a direct EWC 2026 slot.

TI 2026 China Regional Qualifier (June 15–18, 2026): First seed. Beat Vici Gaming — a roster containing two TI6 champions, two TI finalists, and a TI podium medalist — to take the top qualifier spot. The most significant result any of these five players have achieved together is two months after the team was formed.

Playstyle and Reputation

Team Resilience plays structured, disciplined Chinese macro Dota—the system that the country's best teams have always built around. Erika is on Carry Farms efficiently and doesn't force things. Echo runs tempo in the middle without overextending. Niu holds the frontline and enables team fights. A planet is everywhere on the map, the connective tissue that makes every rotation work. zzq anchors the vision game and controls enemy patterns from position. 5. None of them are flashy. All of them are consistent. That combination, under Super's coaching, produced a qualifier result that nobody predicted.

The team name is not accidental. These are players who have collectively been through more org disbands, failed qualifiers, and near-misses than most rosters twice their age. The name is a statement.

Fun Facts

Team Resilience has five players who have collectively attended TI three times—niu at TI 2023 with LGD (top 3); Erika at TI 2021 with VG (top 6) and TI 2024 with Team Zero (13th-16th); plAnet at TI 2025 with Tidebound (7th-8th); and zzq at TI 2024 with Team Zero. Echo is the only one without a TI appearance—and he's been a professional player since 2018. He will get his first one in August in Shanghai.

They formed on April 5. They qualified for TI on June 18. That's 74 days from formation to TI qualification. For context—most teams spend six months preparing for a TI qualifier and don't make it.
