Broodmother
For centuries, Black Arachnia the Broodmother lurked in the dark lava tubes beneath the smoldering caldera of Mount Pyrotheos, raising millions of spiderlings in safety before sending them to find prey in the wide world above. In a later age, the Vizier of Greed, Ptholopthales, erected his lodestone ziggurat on the slopes of the dead volcano, knowing that any looters who sought his magnetic wealth must survive the spider-haunted passages.

After millennia of maternal peace, Black Arachnia found herself beset by a steady trickle of furfeet and cutpurses, bold knights and noble youths--all of them delicious, certainly, and yet tending to create a less than nurturing environment for her innocent offspring. Tiring of the intrusions, she paid a visit to Ptholopthales; and when he proved unwilling to discuss a compromise, she wrapped the Vizier in silk and set him aside to be the centerpiece of a special birthday feast.

Unfortunately, the absence of the Magnetic Ziggurat's master merely emboldened a new generation of intruders. When one of her newborns was trodden underfoot by a clumsy adventurer, she reached the end of her silken rope. Broodmother headed for the surface, declaring her intent to rid the world of each and every possible invader, down to the last Hero if necessary, until she could ensure her nursery might once more be a safe and wholesome environment for her precious spiderspawn.

When to Pick Broodmother?
Pick Broodmother when the enemy team has no real answer to split pushing and zero AOE to deal with her spiders—because that's where this hero becomes an absolute nightmare to play against. She is underrated right now, and I genuinely don't understand why people are ignoring her. In the right conditions, Broodmother doesn't just win a lane — she devours it completely and then takes the whole map hostage.
She is disgusted against single-target lineups that can't clear spiderlings fast enough, because while they are busy trying to kill one spider, three towers are already gone. She pairs beautifully with heroes that can create pressure elsewhere on the map—Enigma, Nature's Prophet, Lycan—anything that forces the enemy to split their attention so they can never fully commit to hunting her down.
Avoid picking her into heavy AOE lineups—Dragon Knight, Jakiro, Earthshaker, or any hero that can just sneeze and wipe her entire spider army in one second. Also feels absolutely terrible into Chen or Beastmaster, because those heroes can match her split push and out-pressure her at her own game. And if the enemy has a lot of mobility and can rotate fast? Forget it — they will just collapse on her before the spiders do anything meaningful.
Tips & common mistakes
- People pick Broodmother and then play her like a normal carry in the middle of teamfights. She is NOT a teamfighter. She is a map pressure machine—split push, take objectives, and force rotations. That's the whole point.
- Spawn Spiderlings is not just a damage spell—those spiders are your farming tool, your pushing tool, and your fighting tool all in one. If you are not using them to last hit and accelerate your farm, you are playing her at half capacity.
- Insatiable Hunger is your all-in button. Don't pop it randomly — save it for when you are committing to a kill or when you are about to get jumped and need the lifesteal to survive.
- Stop webbing in obvious places. Smart enemies will track your web locations and set up ambushes. Place webs in unexpected spots and always have an escape web ready before you commit to anything aggressive.
- You NEED to win the lane. Broodmother is not a hero that comes back from a bad laning phase—if you get bullied out early and fall behind on farm, your whole game plan falls apart completely.
- Don't group with your team and expect to teamfight—you will just feed. While your team fights, YOU should be taking a different lane or an objective. That's how you win with this hero.
- Watch out for dust and Sentry Wards. If the enemy is spending every gold piece on detection, respect it and adjust—don't just walk into their vision and die like you didn't know it was there.
Summary
Broodmother is a hero that wins games in a completely different way than most carries—she doesn't outfight you; she outpressures you until your base is gone and your team is too busy chasing spiders to do anything meaningful. She is underrated right now because people don't respect the split push threat, and that's exactly why you should be picking her.
Master the web placement, keep the spiders alive, and make the enemy team's life a constant misery of rotating and losing objectives. Just don't make the mistake of thinking you're Phantom Assassin and walking into a 1v5—because without your spiders and your webs, you are just a small spider lady with no real plan.
